A spot in Waikiki that’s been there since the 1950s will soon be a thing of the past.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the new International Market Place is happening on Monday.
On new year’s eve night, all the kiosks and small stores in the International Marketplace will have to close up shop for good.
The landowner, the Queen Emma Lland Company, will be redeveloping the area into an up-scale shopping area anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue.
The Miramar at Waikiki Hotel is also closing its doors because of the renovations.
The hotel has been around since 1970 and will close on January 24, 2015.
They’ll start building the new shopping center in 2015.
