Honolulu police have opened an investigation after an improvised explosive device was found at a Salt Lake school.
Emergency crews were called to Aliamanu Elementary School at around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday. According to a letter sent home to parents, classes in the school’s A+ program were briefly interrupted when an unknown device was found near Building C. Students and staff were directed to stay in the cafeteria as police investigated.
Police say the pipe bomb was rendered safe and removed from the area.
A prohibited explosive device case has been opened. So far, no suspects have been identified.
