Despite owning two of the last three HHSAA division I state football championships, including three of the last eight years, Kahuku football coach Reggie Torres will be replaced as emperor of Red Raider nation.
Kahuku principal Pauline Masaniai, in her first year at the position, asked all coaches in all sports to re-apply for their positions in 2014. According to sources, Lee Leslie of Kuna high school in Idaho was selected over the 75 time winner on the north shore as head football coach of the Red Raiders.
Leslie, who has assistant experience in the Arena Football League and the University of Utah, is a 17-time state champion at the high school level. Leslie has informed Kuna high that he has accepted the Job at Kahuku.
According to sources, Torres, who is currently in Baltimore, has not been told of the hiring by Masaniai, but has learned through sources at the school of the selection. Principal Masaniai was not available for comment this afternoon.
Kahuku will open their 2014 schedule August 15th against Kapolei.
