Annual Honolulu Festival showcases weekend of cultural events

The 20th annual Honolulu Festival is in full gear with a host of activities taking place this weekend.

On Saturday, activities include:

  • Bon dance
  • Time capsule project
  • Ennichi Corner
  • Anime Corner
  • Craft fair
  • Film festival

Events take place at the Hawaii Convention Center, Waikiki Beach Walk, and Ala Moana Center.  Admission is free.  Events run from 10:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.

On Sunday, activities include:

  • Bon dance
  • Hula performances
  • Musical performances

A free concert featuring Jake Shimabukuro and Jody Kamisato and the Ukulele Super Kids takes places at 3:00 p.m. on Lewers Street.

The annual grand parade down Kalakaua Avenue kicks off at 4:30 p.m., featuring marchers and colorful parade floats.  Surrounding roads in the area will be shut down.

The Honolulu Festival wraps up with a Nagaoka Fireworks Show at 8:30 p.m. over Waikiki Beach.
