Honolulu police have arrested two men for allegedly trying to steal copper in Mapunapuna.

Police say officers were called to a suspicious circumstance case on Kilihau St. at around 1:55 a.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, police say they saw Shawn Ogasawara and Michael Akau trying to steal the copper wiring.

Hawaiian Telcom says the wiring came from an inactive copper line and service was not affected.

Both men were arrested for copper theft.
