A warning from police about the latest scheme targeting seniors.
They say con-artists are getting more brazen.
Over the past couple of weeks police say they have seen a few cases where the defrauder is actually showing up at the victims’ homes to take the money.
Most recently, an elderly woman was told her grandson was in trouble and needed money.
She was instructed to get a cashiers check, which was later picked up from her home.
She gave more than $200,000.
“Check where your grandson is. check where your granddaughter is. make sure they’re alright. confirm with your family before you give any money,” HPD Lt. John McCarthy said.
Police say never give money or your address to strangersand always report suspicious activity to police.
