A 16-year-old girl is dead after crashing her motor scooter on the Likelike Hwy. on-ramp to the west-bound direction of H-3 Fwy. The incident happened at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
“When (officers) got up here, what they found was a father and daughter who were riding their motor scooters heading up to the H-3, when the daughter, who was the lead vehicle, lost control and struck the guardrail,” said Lt. Bobby Towne of the Honolulu Police Dept.
According to the Honolulu Emergency Medical Services, the girl was taken to the hospital in critical condition where she later died.
Honolulu police say she may have been speeding. She was wearing a helmet at the time.
