Friends honor woman killed in farmers’ market crash with vigil

Friends and family remembered the woman killed last weekend at the KCC Farmers’ Market.

A candlelight vigil was held for Annie Runland on Friday evening.

The 27-year-old was run over by an organic farms truck last Saturday, as vendors were setting up for the Farmers Market.

“I didn’t think I would come back to Hawaii. I’ve met all of Anne’s friends. They’ve touched me like they’ve touched her. The support and love has been amazing. I can’t put it in words,” Runland’s mom Sarah Van Vegten said.

Runland was originally from Washington State.

She was set to graduate from the University of Hawaii in May.
