Prince Kuhio Parade

Thousands lined Kalakaua Avenue for the annual Prince Kuhio parade.

It kicked off at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning and included hundreds of marchers, several floats, and marching bands.

The parade honors the accomplishments of Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole, founder of the Hawaiian Civic Club movement.

This year’s theme is “E Papapae pu ana kakou, I ka nalu ho’okahi e he’e ai”, meaning “We will surf together, on one wave we shall ride”.

Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki was shut down to traffic for the duration of the parade.
