The Maui Fire Department along with the help of National Park rangers located two missing 16-year-old girls.
They became separated from a group of five people who were hiking at the Seven Sacred Pools area in Kipahulu, Maui.
At about 5:30 p.m. Friday afternoon the group was hiking when the water in the stream started rising, separating the two girls.
An aerial and ground search were unsuccessful, forcing rescuers to suspend the search at darkness on Friday.
At about 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning the fire department’s helicopter spotted the females on the side of the stream. They were airlifted to a landing zone unharmed, but cold.
