Veterans from the 442nd Regimental Combat Team gathered at the State Capitol Monday to celebrate the opening of a special 442nd exhibit at the Chamber Level.
“Go For Broke! Japanese American Soldiers Fighting on Two Fronts” chronicles the history of Japanese American Nisei soldiers from the 100th Infantry Battalion, 442nd Regimental Combat Team, and Military Intelligence Service who served during World War II.
The exhibit was most recently at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles and will tour Hawaii for the next several months thanks to the Nisei Veterans Legacy Center.
The unit celebrates its 71st anniversary this month.
