Maui County Mayor Alan Arakawa presented his budget proposal Tuesday for the 2015 fiscal year.
Arakawa estimates total spending for the year at $622.6 million with an operating budget of $509.9 million. “This is a balanced budget that continues to strengthen the county’s fiscal health as well as invests in its future,” he said.
The mayor also laid out $150.8 million in capital improvement plans, which includes fixing roads, improving the water supply, wastewater system and parks, and making more affordable housing available.
