H&M is getting ready to open its first Hawaii store in Waikiki.
On Tuesday, the Swedish retailer gave KHON2 a preview of the new 31,000-square-foot space. The store, which is located in Waikiki Business Plaza on Kalakaua Ave., offers affordably-priced apparel and accessories for men and women.
“We have featured swimwear that we have here that we don’t have in any other stores right now as well as having brought our high-fashion trend collection for ladies to this store in particular,” said H&M spokesperson Nicole Christie. “It’s not in every store in the country and we thought that this unique location could definitely have it and its something extra we want to offer to our customers.”
The store will open to the public Thursday at noon. H&M will offer the first 500 shoppers in line a limited-edition tote bag and an Access to Fashion Pass valued from $10 to $500. There will also be opening offers starting at $5.
“We waited for the best location that’s central, where there is a lot of foot traffic,” Christie said. “Obviously, there’s a lot of foot traffic here in Waikiki and we need to have the square footage to be able to carry all of our great collections.”
Free parking is available with validation at Waikiki Business Plaza. Nearby Waikiki Shopping Plaza will also offer three free hours of parking with any H&M purchase and $2.50 for every half-hour thereafter.
H&M says it’s looking to open more stores on Oahu and Maui.
