As the college basketball world is focused on the NCAA tournament’s Sweet Sixteen, University of Hawaii men’s basketball head coach Gib Arnold is recruiting amidst a pending NCAA investigation into his program.
As reported last week, the investigation stems from a mistake made on a federal document by assistant Coach Brandyn Akana. The document never made it out of the UH compliance office, and was self reported.
Sources tell KHON2 Sports that the error was not malicious, and Akana has since returned to work.
However, college athletics’ governing body will still snoop around the program for what is being estimated as a couple of weeks.
Last night, Arnold expressed to ESPN 1420’s Jeff Portnoy that he welcomes an investigation, while declaring that his program is unbelievably clean.
