Giant sponge crab spotted at Pokai Bay

Check out what one man stumbled across on the west side of Oahu.

Sam Pae found a giant crab at Pokai Bay Friday. According to Waikiki Aquarium, the massive crustacean is a sponge crab.

Sponge crabs are common in the islands and normally grow to about eight inches, so this one appears to be a little bigger than usual.

Just don’t try to eat it. Experts say depending on its diet, sponge crabs can be poisonous.
