An Alaska fugitive has been caught on Maui.
On Saturday, March 29, Anchorage police received a report that 32-year-old Joshua Leigh had entered a local hardware store and used a tool to cut off his ankle monitor. He was awaiting trial on felony charges.
Investigators later determined that Leigh had boarded a flight to Maui shortly after he cut off the monitor.
Anchorage police obtained an extraditable warrant and Maui police detained Leigh at the airport when his plane landed.
Leigh was charged with violation of condition of release and criminal mischief in the third degree. He is currently on Maui awaiting extradition back to Anchorage.
