Ask HPD: Parking a car between no parking signs

no parking sign

Honolulu Police Department Capt. Andrew Lum answers this week’s question.

Question: This may be a stupid question, but I didn’t know how to correctly answer my son’s question.  He asked me if it is okay to park right in front of a no parking end sign or in back of the sign?

Answer: The No Parking End sign is informing drivers that they can park past this sign. The area between the No Parking Begin and the No Parking End signs is off-limits to parking.   Violators are subject to a $35 citation.
