After falling apart over the years, the bleachers at Kahuku High School were closed last month. Some in the community said they were a disaster waiting to happen.
Now, according to the school’s principal, the bleachers will be repaired and fully functional by August 8 before the high school football season. She says $300,000 in state funds appropriated for the bleachers will be released in May and repairs can start after that.
The principal admits the bleachers are rusting and corroding, but says once they’re fixed, they will meet all safety standards.
