Saint Louis School has released athletics director Ed Paola after four years on the job.
The school made an official announcement Friday that Paola will not be returning for the 2014-15 school year.
“Ed contributed to the growth of our students in the classroom and sports field, and worked during a transitional period of a number of capital improvements to our athletics facilities,” said Saint Louis School president Walter Kirimitsu. “We hope to begin the hiring process as soon as possible and ensure the integrity of our athletics program for the remainder of this school year.”
Paola confirmed to KHON2 Sports Thursday that he would no longer be the school’s athletics director effective Monday.
Paola said that he did not and will not resign, and that he is very proud of what was accomplished during his last four years on the job.
He brought in 14-time Prep Bowl champion head coach Cal Lee back to Saint Louis two months ago, in what appears to be his final hire at the helm.
The school says Paola’s duties will be re-assigned internally until a new athletic director is hired.
