High surf advisory remains in effect for east-facing shores of Maui, Molokai

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has continued the high surf advisory for east-facing shores of Maui and Molokai, in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Expect surf of 5 to 8 feet along east-facing shores.

Precautionary measures for beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.

Expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents, making swimming difficult and dangerous.
