Kauai police have arrested a suspect wanted in connection with a robbery that occurred near Lydgate Park in February.
Kamoelii Kolo, 32 of Anahola, was arrested Monday on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
Police say on Sunday, February 16, a 20-year-old Kapaa man reportedly agreed to give Kolo a ride from the Lydgate Park entrance to Kamalani Bridge. When the suspect entered the vehicle, he grabbed the victim’s wallet and insinuated that he had a gun. He then took off with the victim’s wallet and an undisclosed amount of cash.
A police investigation later revealed Kolo’s identity. With the help of vice officers, Kolo was observed driving a vehicle on Kuhio Hwy. in Anahola at approximately 3:40 p.m. Monday. Officers stopped the vehicle and Kolo was arrested without incident.
Initial bail has been set at $100,000, but is subject to change once he is formally charged in court.
Kolo remains in police cellblock awaiting his initial court appearance which has not yet been scheduled.
Police report that Kolo was also wanted on a $750 warrant relating to a prior incident.
