Here’s an update on roadwork on Waialae Avenue. This is a project that started in July of 2012, and was supposed to have been wrapped up by December of last year.
The Department of Design and Construction says the contractor for this project is also wrestling with the kinds of problems the city has encountered in Wahiawa with soft spots under the roadway.
Director Chris Takashige told KHON2 that he is still confident the work will be completed by July 2014.
The Waialae Avenue road work has been saddled with six change orders to the tune of $1 million.
That brings the total cost of this project to $10.5 million so far.
