Last minute fundraising efforts for Typhoon Haiyan

Haiyan efforts

It’s been several months since Typhoon Haiyan ravaged the Philippines, and many who lived through it are still in need of help.

To emphasize that point, community organizers held a rally to promote a new benefit to people who donate to the relief effort.

Legislation sponsored by Senator Mazie Hirono allows for tax-free donations made until April 15th of this year to be deducted from last year’s income tax returns.

“We have friends and family there who are sending aid and giving relief efforts. So I think it’s great if everyone can pitch in and help out with those efforts” Filipino Jaycee member Brandon Elefante said.

If you missed today’s rally, donations are still being accepted at the Filcom Center, and online through their website.
