The ex-boyfriend of Charli Scott has been arrested on charges unrelated to the investigation into her disappearance.
Maui Police say Steven Capobianco was arrested this morning for a burglary that happened last September in Haiku.
The victim told police that two computers, cash, and jewelry were taken, and someone damaged the tires of two different vehicles.
On February 25, the victim told detectives that she suspected Capobianco in the theft, because he was one of only a few people who knew the location of the computer that had been taken.
Police say on February 27, while they conducted a search of Capobianco’s home, jewelry was found that the victim said belonged to her.
Capobianco is being held on $10,000 bail for first degree burglary.
Maui police previously called Capobianco a “person of interest” in Scott’s death. She was last seen on February 9th. Her car turned up a few days later, burnt and totaled in a lot near the surf spot Jaws on Maui’s north shore. In early March her disappearance was reclassified as a murder investigation, but no body has been found. She was five months pregnant when she disappeared.
