LAS VEGAS (KTNV/CNN) – The woman accused of throwing a shoe at Hillary Clinton is in custody of Secret Service agents and is being charged with a federal crime.
36-year old Alison Ernst was taken into custody on Monday in Phoenix, Arizona.
Ernst is accused of tossing a shoe at the former Secretary of State and possible 2016 presidential candidate, who was on stage for a speech at the Mandalay Bay hotel-casino last week.
Clinton ducked as the shoe flew by. Ernst was quickly detained. She did not have a ticket to the event and eluded hotel security, officials said.
Clinton even made a joke about it during her speech.
