A dump truck has damaged the underside of the H-3 Freeway in Windward Oahu, according to the state Dept. of Transportation.

Officials say the truck, owned by concrete company Ameron Hawaii, hit the underside of the viaduct near the company’s satellite plant. A support beam on the viaduct’s outer edge was damaged.

Officials assure the H-3 viaduct is still structurally sound and open for use.

The department’s highways division is working with the company on a repair plan. A full cost and timetable for the work has not yet been determined.

Transportation officials say Ameron Hawaii will be responsible for the assessment, design, permitting and construction of the repairs, including any inspections required by the state.
