KHON2 has an update to a story we reported about last month on Kosher meals for Hawaii inmates.
The state says it has selected a vendor to provide those meals to prisoners at Hawaii correctional facilities.
The contract was awarded to HFM Foodservice for about $312,000.
The company will ship these specially-prepared meals from the mainland.
KHON2 wanted to know why the meals could not be prepared locally.
The state says to datethey have not received bids from local responders who can provide Kosher meals up to current standard.
