A 35-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a stabbing on Thursday, April 17, in Waikoloa.
At 6:48 p.m. Thursday, Hawaii Island police says South Kohala patrol officers responded to a report of a man bleeding from the neck on the 68-1600 block of Malie St. The victim, a 20-year-old Waikoloa man, was found with multiple wounds to his torso and throat. He was taken to North Kohala Community Hospital.
Investigation revealed that the suspect, Joel H. White, 35, who was an acquaintance of the victim, went to the victim’s house and the two got into an altercation. The victim was cut with a sharp object and then ran to another house nearby.
White was arrested at the scene and charged with attempted second-degree murder and first-degree burglary. His bail was set at $275,000.
The victim remains hospitalized for treatment of his injuries.
