A Kaimuki resident who’s been waiting nine years for help from the city received good news Tuesday.
Crews showed up to work on a problematic tree growing on city property next to Eugene Nobriga Jr.’s home. The tree blocked his view when he tried to back out of his driveway and its roots uplifted the sidewalk.
He says for years the city told him it would take down the tree, and even gave him work order numbers for the job, but still nothing was done. He called KHON2’s Action Line as a last resort.
“I’m happy,” Nobriga said. “This morning, I could hear the guys out here and I came running out. Thank you very much Action Line.”
An arborist with the Dept. of Parks and Recreation will decide whether to cut the roots or take out the entire tree.
