Water conservation request issued on Kauai

The Kauai Dept. of Water has issued an immediate water conservation request for Kilauea until further notice.

Officials say an electrical power outage has affected the area’s deep well site.

Residents and businesses located from Waipake to Kalihiwai Ridge are asked to limit water consumption to essential uses only while crews with DOW and Kauai Island Utility Cooperative troubleshoot the problem.

Essential water needs includes cooking, bathing and toilet flushing.

Water conservation measures include refraining from car washing, reducing outdoor irrigation, and using water wisely indoors and outdoors.

For more information call the Dept. of Water at 245-5455 during business hours, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or police dispatch at 241-1711 after business hours.
