Another Hawaii Red Cross volunteer just returned home after spending several weeks helping victims in the Washington landslide.
Hawaii Kai resident Candy Iha is an active volunteer for non-profit agencies including Children’s Disaster Services and the American Red Cross.
The registered nurse paid for her own transportation to Washington to lend a helping hand.
“Its very humbling but I was very honored to be there cause I was really at the front line. They were really resilient – the most resilient community I have ever seen,” Iha added.
The active search for victims in the Washington landslide ended earlier this week.
Iha has volunteered at 10 other disaster sites including Indonesia, the Philippines and following Hurricane Sandy.
