The Hawaiian music community has lost another legend.
Chino Montero, who was a member of the popular trio Palolo, died suddenly Friday morning.
His music career also included work as a solo artist.
For the last 12 years, he played alongside Amy Hanaiali’i.
“Chino was like a brother. He wasn’t just a guitar player, and he played with me for so many years and was always there to watch my back,” Hanaiali’i said.
Memorial services have not yet been set.
Earlier this week, Dennis Kamakahi who played with Montero in the past also passed away after battling cancer.
