BananaMan Chase

Over 1,600 people participated in the 13th annual Jamba BananaMan Chase on Saturday morning at Ala Moana Beach Park.

The event was held to raise money for a skills training program for aspiring youth athletes called Hawaii Speed & Quickness.

Participants tried to get ahead of lead runners wearing Jamba Banana costumes along a 3.1 mile course.

Celebrity Bananas included KHON’s own Taizo Braden and John Veneri.

Prizes for first place finishers in each age group who passed the BananaMan won free Jamba Juice smoothies for a year.

Preliminary estimates indicate the event raised $15,000 for the program.
