Punahou boys tennis wins 24th straight state championship

Punahou School’s boys varsity tennis team is celebrating a major victory. The team won the Hawaii High School Athletic Association state championship on Maui.

The victory marks the 24th straight year the team has been named state champion. It’s the longest championship run of any high school sport by a single team.

Punahou’s top player, junior Kawika Lam, took first place in the singles division. He is ranked 19th in the country. Seniors Zander Kim and Jon Costales won the doubles state championship.

Head coach Rusty Komori was inducted into Creighton University’s Hall of Fame April 9.
