California parking sign installer fined for violating the sign he was putting up

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT/CNN) — Here’s a tip if you’re ever looking for a parking spot in Santa Barbara, California: when the signs say 75-minute limit, they mean it!

Dan Greding found that out the hard way when he exceeded the sign’s limit.

Only difference was, he was the one putting the signs up!

Greding says he’d already installed several signs, but the last one took longer because he had to drill into concrete.

When he looked up, he saw a parking enforcement officer ticketing his truck.

“I didn’t know what to say. I was dumbfounded… I said but I’m putting these signs up, and he says then you should know you can’t park here more than 75 minutes. I said well I haven’t put the sign up yet…” Greding said.

Greding got the 48-dollar ticket back in February, but he’s still fighting it.

He lost one appeal already and is now going to an administrative panel as a last resort.
