GPS Tracking device may reduce cost of wandering Alzheimer’s patients

Technology is making it easier to look after people with Alzheimer’s.

About 5 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer’s and of those 70 percent will wander or become lost three or more times.

Several companies have developed GPS tracking devices that can help families find their missing loved ones quickly.

They can be included in everyday items including watches, shoes, and even the insoles of shoes.

Families can also sign up for monitoring services which will notify them. If the GPS shows an Alzheimer’s patient has wandered away.

Those services can typically cost about 10 to 30 dollars per month.
