Firefighters were alerted to a structure fire in Salt Lake shortly before midnight Saturday.

Heavy smoke was reported coming out of a unit on the third floor of a seven-story residential building at 909 Ala Lilikoi St.

The third floor was evacuated as firefighters forcibly entered the apartment where the resident manager reportedly lives. The firefighters found a dog locked in a cage that was alive and well.

The fire was fully extinguished by 12:17 a.m. Sunday. One person was treated by Emergency Medical Services, with no word if transport to a medical center was needed.

No cause has been found for the blaze. Damages are estimated at $60,000 to the structure and $10,000 to the unit’s contents.
