Despite having clinched back-to-back losing seasons for the first time since 1974, University of Hawaii Head Baseball Coach Mike Trapasso’s expiring contract will be extended, according to Athletics Director Ben Jay.
Terms of the deal are unknown at this time, and the contract is still pending review by Chancellor Tom Apple.
Jay confirmed that he and Trapasso have agreed to the extension in principle, and the AD has signed a term sheet.
At this point the contract just needs to be signed-off by Apple, which Jay is confident will happen.
Since signing an extension in 2010, Trapasso has claimed one conference title, with two winning seasons. All while playing a top-25 strength of schedule, and ranking in the top-15 in attendance.
The Rainbow Warriors are currently 19-and-28, 3-and-15 in the Big-West.
Next up for the team is a 3-game series at Cal State Northridge starting Friday.
