California wildfire cameraman gets soaked with fire retardant

SAN MARCOS, CA (KUSI/CNN) – A photographer covering the California wildfires got right in the thick of the action.

But not how he intended.

A cameraman from a San Diego TV station was shooting footage of the wildfire in San Marcos.

When a plane dropped its load of fire retardant right where he was standing.

You can hear someone in the video laughing it off as “friendly fire.”

Not only did the photographer and his camera get soaked, it looks like the station’s car will need a wash too.
