A Pearl City man has pleaded not guilty to soliciting sex from an 11-year-old girl on Facebook.
Jonathan Silva, 25, was indicted on one count of Electronic Enticement of a Minor. According to the state Attorney General’s Office, he arranged to meet the girl at a Pearl City restaurant on April 30.
Authorities arrested Silva upon arrival.
The girl’s parents told KHON2 in an exclusive interview that they created the Facebook account to keep in touch with family on the mainland.
According to the girl’s father, she accepted Silva’s request thinking that he was a family friend and he instantly made a pass at her. When she told her parents, they immediately notified authorities.
Silva’s trial is set for July 14.
