After much anticipation, Hokulea finally set sail Saturday afternoon.

The historic voyage is now underway, making its first stop on Maui.

The crew will visit 28 countries, docking at 83 ports.

The journey took years of planning, and is expected to last three years.

During our live coverage Saturday, our Kathy Muneno had a unique perspective as Hokulea left its Sand Island dock. She spoke with her husband, navigator Nainoa Thompson, while they were on an escort boat.
