The Honolulu Fire Department came to the rescue of a couple of male hikers who got tired, trying to reach the Haiku stairs, better known as Stairway to Heaven.
The call came in a little after 8 a.m. Saturday. The hikers got around the fenced area and the guard and hiked into the valley. They scaled a cliff, got stuck and called for help.
They reportedly never made it to the trail.
A rescue helicopter plucked them off the cliff and landed in Kaneohe District Park. No injuries were reported.
This comes days after nearby residents had a confrontation with hikers, and another rescue back in February where a man and woman had to spend the night on the trail to wait for a HFD helicopter to come and get them.
