Oahu high surf advisory for south-facing shores

south shore surf advisory

Saturday’s south shore swell kept Oahu lifeguards busy with around 978 preventative actions taken and approximately 130 rescues and assists.

At around 4 p.m., three people were washed off the ledge at China Walls. Two were able to make it back up, but the third needed assistance by lifeguards. He suffered serious lacerations to the head and arm, along with multiple abrasions.

The man, in his 20s, was treated by paramedics at the scene and transported to a hospital in serious condition.

The high surf advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. Sunday, with surf reaching four to eight feet, with locally higher sets.

Surf is expected to lower to three to seven feet on Sunday.
