LANIKAI- Reigning HHSAA girl’s golf champion, Mariel Galdiano, shredded the record books Sunday in the final round of the 64th Annual Jennie K. Wilson Women’s Invitational at the Mid-Pacific Country Club.
The 15-year old claimed the states most prestigious amateur female golf tournament after a stellar performance this past weekend. Galdiano, who shot minus five yesterday, carded a plus 2.74 in the final round.
After signing off at ten-under for the week, the Punahou sophomore captured the 2014 Jennie K. Wilson championship and shattered the previous record of five-under set by Amanda Wilson in 2004.
Galdiano, who three years ago was the youngest golfer ever to qualify for the U.S Women’s Open, will be an alternate for the tournament in June.
Waiakea alumni and current Gonzaga golfer Ciera Min finished in second place in the tournament at three-under par.
