Honolulu police are investigating a body that was found in a Moiliili condominium Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities went to the unit on Young St. to conduct a welfare check and found a woman in her 30s dead inside with suspicious injuries.
Sources say the woman had multiple stab wounds.
Police carried a body bag and evidence out of the building.
Authorities said the body may be linked to a single-car crash that occurred Monday night on Kamehameha Hwy. between Wahiawa and Haleiwa but would not elaborate on the link.
According to sources, the woman was the registered owner of the vehicle that crashed and burst into flames, and that police have been looking for the car’s owner since then.
The male driver died in the crash. He has not yet been identified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office.
Police did not reveal anything about the relationship between the male driver and the woman.
They have classified the case as an unattended death.
The medical examiner is conducting an autopsy on the woman, and a positive identification is expected as early as Thursday.
