(NASA) — Check out this “global selfie” of planet earth.

NASA released this image Thursday.

The space agency invited people from around the world to take a selfie on Earth Day on April 22, and share it on social media.

Then NASA used some 36-thousand individual photographs to build this “global selfie” mosaic.

It’s a new view of planet earth created entirely from selfies.

NASA says it designed the project to encourage environmental awareness, and to recognize the agency’s ongoing work to protect the planet.
