For the second time in days, the University of Hawaii at Manoa is having power problems. This time, the campus had to close one of its buildings for the day.

University officials said Wednesday’s power outage in Waikiki and Kaimuki also hit the campus, blowing fuses at the university’s main substation and switchgear at the Queen Liliuokalani Center for Student Services.

Facilities personnel worked with Hawaiian Electric Company through the night to restore power to all buildings except QLC so the building was closed Thursday.

University officials said fewer staff were likely on campus since it was the week after commencement and before the start of summer school.

Electricity is expected to be restored Thursday and campus should be back to normal Friday.
