A large number of lei are still needed to adorn the gravesites at Punchbowl for Memorial Day.

Even after Saturday’s push by volunteers to make upwards of 38,000 lei for Monday’s Memorial Day service at the National Cemetery of the Pacific in Punchbowl, the City’s Parks Department reported that the number still fell short.

Specifically 8,000-10,000 more lei are needed to decorate the graves.

Those who can still help can drop off their lei between 8-11 a.m. Sunday at the Punchbowl cemetery.

If people plan to sew their own lei, the preferred length is 24 inches.
