It appears boaters are behaving themselves this Memorial Day weekend.
The Dept. of Land and Natural Resources said no citations were issued for illegal drinking and disorderly conduct at the sandbar in Kaneohe Bay as of noon Monday.
Officers believe rainy weather is largely responsible for the comparatively low number of boaters and recreationalists at the Ahu o Laka safety zone this holiday weekend.
“Today has been a miraculous day because as you can see, there’s hardly anyone and usually Memorial Day is one of our most trouble days because of the crowd that we have mixed with alcohol,” said DLNR officer Junior Tataipu.
Officers counted less than 20 vessels in the bay Monday.
