The Honolulu medical examiner has identified the man killed in a fiery crash in Wahiawa last week as 37-year-old Eric Filiaga of Honolulu.
Police say Filiaga was speeding on Kamehameha Hwy. on Monday, May 19, when he apparently lost control and struck a metal electric pole.
The SUV he was in burst into flames and Filiaga died at the scene.
According to sources, the car was registered to Filiaga’s ex-wife, Sheryll Lacson Filiaga.
The 30-year-old wedding planner and real estate agent was found stabbed to death in a Moiliili condo on Wednesday, two days after the crash.
Police said she was murdered, but are not looking for a suspect.
The medical examiner’s office records the date of a person’s death when he or she is pronounced, and may not be the actual date of death.
